Local Community Dental Outreach

Dr. Naved Fatmi and Sue Correia, CRDH, volunteered their services to teach students, their parents, and the staff of the Assalam Center in Boca Raton.

They discussed the importance of good oral health and nutrition habits, focusing on the sugar content of sodas, sports drink, energy drinks, and juices. Students were instructed on proper brushing and flossing techniques and good oral health habits, followed by a question and answer session.

Dr. Fatmi conducted dental screenings, administered preventive fluoride varnish, and provided oral hygiene kits to all the participants.

Everyone had a great time and learn a lot!

Fall Back-to-School Exams

Dr. Naved Fatmi, Dr. Millie Mendoza, and Sue Correia, CRDH, conducted back-to-school exams for over 100 Head Start children (3-5 years of age) at the Le Jardin Community Center in Florida City.  Each child received a dental exam, an application of fluoride varnish, and a toothbrush and toothpaste.

In addition, staff members were provided oral hygiene instruction and nutrition education to improve their knowledge and equip them to educate the children and families they serve.

Le Jardin Community Center, Inc. is a nonprofit agency that provides children and families with opportunities to learn, develop and increase their likelihood of success in the future, thereby giving them a “Head Start”.  Regency Court Dentistry is proud to support this organization.  Click here to learn more about the center.

Back to School, Giving Back

It’s that time of year again, back to school.  As children return to school they also get back into a daily routine.  Making oral hygiene is a big part of this daily routine.  This month our hygienist, Sue, gave an oral hygiene presentation at Plantation Park Elementary school.

The lesson included: the roles of the dental team (hygienist, dentist, assistant), the importance of personal protection equipment (PPE): gown, mask, protective eye wear, and gloves, the anatomy of the mouth and the importance of fluoride and good daily oral hygiene to protect teeth, proper brushing, flossing, and mouth rinse techniques, as well as a lesson on proper nutrition.  Each child received a Colgate Wave toothbrush.

National Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month – a great time to discuss the importance of oral health with your kids.  On Sunday, February 22, Dr. Fatmi and Sue Kassoff-Correia had the pleasure of meeting with the congregation of the Assalam Center, an Islamic educational and cultural center located in Boca Raton.  Dr. Fatmi and Sue provided oral hygiene instructions to the parents, children, and staff of the center, highlighting the importance of proper nutrition, thorough daily oral hygiene, regular dental visits, dental sealants, and fluoride varnish applications. Dr. Fatmi also presented information on stages of tooth development, the progression of the disease process, current restorative options and ADA-endorsed products available to the audience, followed by a Q&A session.  The team at Regencey Court Dentistry look forward to returning to the Assalam Center in the spring, for the children’s quarterly dental screening and fluoride varnish application.
