Flashing A Confident Smile

Creating New Smiles and Endless Confidence

David Underwood stopped going to dentists because he could never find one he felt had his best interests at heart.  David Underwood found a reliable and honest dentist in Naved Fatmi, DMD, at Regency Court Dentistry.

“There’s a history of bad oral health in my family,” David explains. “My father’s teeth were horrible, and my mom lost four of her front teeth at a young age. Knowing this, I tried my best at home to take care of my teeth, but I needed a lot of work done. I had decay and other things going on.

“I was tired of the judgmental attitudes and stares I was constantly getting. Every time I would go see a dentist, instead of giving me a plan and a goal to work toward, they would judge me and make assumptions as to why my teeth were in the shape they were in at my age. I just got fed up.”

After seeing at least four different dentists, the 27-year-old was left feeling discouraged that he would ever find one who could solve his issues. That changed when he met Naved Fatmi, DMD, at Regency Court Dentistry.

“The most important thing I want people to understand is that it doesn’t matter how old a person is, and it doesn’t matter what the problem is or where the problem came from,” says Dr. Fatmi. “Regency Court Dentistry gives people the solutions they seek so they can bite and chew properly, and they can smile, which restores one’s confidence.”

Creating new smiles

“The first thing David mentioned to me is that he didn’t like the overall look of his smile,” Dr. Fatmi explains. “After we took x-rays and came up with a treatment plan, I got started right away. The first thing I needed to do was to get his gums healthy, and to do that, I did a scaling gum treatment. After his gums had ample time to heal from that procedure, we got started repairing his six front teeth on the top. The reason he wanted to start there was so he could feel more confident in job interviews and when talking to people.

“To achieve our goal of creating a new smile for David, I wanted to be able to save all of his teeth and, luckily, I was able to do so. He had several root canals done, and we placed porcelain crowns along the top. The end result is a natural look that matches his facial structure and skin tone. And it has given him a renewed sense of confidence about himself. He is far too young to lose his teeth or to even think that was his only option.”

More Than Dentistry

Improve your look with medical aesthetics at this Boca Raton dental office

A lifelong aesthetician, Elsa Vasquez found the perfect place to serve clients thanks to her trusted dentist, Naved Fatmi, DMD, at Regency Court Dentistry.

I have been a patient of Dr. Fatmi’s for about five years; in fact, my entire family goes to him for our dental care,” Elsa says. “He is wonderful, and his team members are fantastic! Several years ago, I was talking to him about aesthetics, and we started a conversation about his desire to add those components to his practice. One thing led to another, and I started to provide the services to his patients.”

For patients seeking a bit of facial rejuvenation treatments to go along with that smile, Regency Court Dentistry offers JUVÉDERM® and BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, pregnancy and hydro facials, microdermabrasion and skin hydration therapy, as well as treatment for acne, rosacea and other skin conditions.

When treating a patient with acne, for example, the treatment regimen will focus on controlling the spread of bacteria, while at the same time regenerating the skin and making it healthier,” Elsa explains. “For a patient with rosacea, I help the person control the rosacea and treat the inflammation because there is currently no cure. It’s a very rewarding job for me to help people feel and look better.

Elsa feels she is fortunate to be able to share her knowledge and expertise with Dr. Fatmi’s patients.

I am thrilled and feel fortunate to be working with Dr. Fatmi, his staff and his patients to provide a full line of medical aesthetics to enhance the beautiful smiles Dr. Fatmi helps his patients achieve,” Elsa shares. “It is very satisfying for me to see a person’s entire self-image change because they have a beautiful smile and look great cosmetically. It’s rewarding to make people feel good about themselves!

More Than Just Teeth

Aesthetic services are becoming more readily available at many dental offices as an additional treatment option,” Dr. Fatmi explains. “Who knows your facial structure better than your dentist?

“I love the aesthetics part of dentistry,” he continues, “because it provides positive change for the patient, sometimes in just one day. JUVÉDERM results are evident the day they leave my office. BOTOX Cosmetic results are apparent within three or four days, in most cases. For someone who may be more introverted or shy about their appearance, this is a huge boost to their self-esteem.”

Elsa says she takes great pride in her role in restoring patient’s skin and making them feel good about how they look overall.

Patients will come in and have their teeth straightened, repaired, whitened, and when they look in the mirror, they still may feel something is missing,” she explains. “I am here to help them diminish facial lines, get rid of acne scarring and whatever other issues they feel are bothering them with their face. People want the whole package now and by offering medical aesthetics here in the dental office, they can get all of their needs met under one roof.”

The most important thing I want people to understand is that it doesn’t matter how old a person is, and it doesn’t matter what the problem is or where the problem came from,” says Dr. Fatmi. “Regency Court Dentistry gives people the solutions they seek in order to restore their confidence.

David Underwood was sick and tired of what he saw in the mirror. His smile wasn’t the best that it could be and it was time he did something about it.

“Overall I was just tired of the way my smile was,” says Underwood.

Underwood hadn’t had the best experiences at dental appointments in the past. Having had judgmental comments and snide remarks by various dentists he met with heighten his insecurities, Underwood was turned off to having anything done to his teeth.

“My past experiences have been horrible,” he says. “But Regency Court Dentistry was referred to me as a great office with nice, friendly individuals.”

Boca Raton DentistHaving heard such great things about Regency Court Dentistry, a practice that provides comprehensive care and specializes in everything from tooth extractions to dentures, Underwood became hopeful that he would be able to smile proud one day. After making an appointment, Dr. Fatmi and his amazing team of professionals met with Underwood to go over his dental problems as well as make a personal dental treatment plan using advanced techniques, and upscale equipment to help him achieve the best smile possible.

“Dr. Fatmi promised me he would do everything he could to make sure I was happy with my smile,” he says.

Underwood needed a lot of work, from root canals to dental crowns on almost every tooth. Dr. Fatmi, unlike many other dentists, assured Underwood that he would only do what was necessary, and would take every step to try and save as much as he could.

Since Underwood had his first appointment with the team, he’s been back to have follow-up work, as well as cleanings, all which left him more confidant about his teeth than ever.

“In my honest opinion from going to dentist to dentist, I have never found a doctor that seems to be more intrigued in what he is doing as well as generally caring about what you think,” says Underwood. “I would be crazy not to recommend him and already have.”

Fall Back-to-School Exams

Dr. Naved Fatmi, Dr. Millie Mendoza, and Sue Correia, CRDH, conducted back-to-school exams for over 100 Head Start children (3-5 years of age) at the Le Jardin Community Center in Florida City.  Each child received a dental exam, an application of fluoride varnish, and a toothbrush and toothpaste.

In addition, staff members were provided oral hygiene instruction and nutrition education to improve their knowledge and equip them to educate the children and families they serve.

Dentist Provides Flexibility to Patients

This Boca Raton dentist provides flexibility to patients, along with a comforting chairside manner.

Working the graveyard shift as a data engineer not only impedes Brian Riccomini’s sleep schedule, but also his ability to make and keep appointments in daytime hours, when he wants to sleep or relax before his next shift begins.

Brian Riccomini underwent restorative dental work at Regency Court Dentistry in Boca Raton.

When Brian was looking for a dentist with hours that would accommodate his hectic lifestyle, he needed to look no further than Regency Court Dentistry.

“There was a lot of work I needed to have done because it had been so long since I had seen a dentist,” Brian shares. “Regency Court was very accommodating to my schedule. Their flexibility was a huge factor for me. It really drew me in to the office.”

Regency Court Dentistry prides itself on providing comprehensive dental care in a comfortable, relaxed environment. This was also something Brian sought out, as he had a long, negative experience with a prior dental office.

“I had a dentist growing up who had absolutely no chairside manner whatsoever,” Brian recalls. “To be honest, he was scary. As a result of that, I just stopped going to the dentist, and my overall oral health suffered tremendously.”

Brian says he suffered depression as a teenager and into his adulthood. Poor self-image was something he struggled with. “I became embarrassed of my teeth and my smile. This went on for many, many years.

“When I finally went to Regency Court, I was at a point where I needed a complete overhaul, but, again, I still had underlying fears based on past dental experiences. I was young and I did not want to lose my teeth, so I knew a change was in order. I forced myself into it.”

No More Fear

Regency Court Dentistry specializes in denture repairs, extractions, root canals and crown repair.

In the four years since Brian became a patient, he has undergone extensive restorative work, including root canals, crowns and dental implants.

“He has had nearly a full mouth restoration,” Dr. Fatmi says. “He was only in his early forties when he first came in, so he was far too young to have such drastic oral health issues. He had cavities, infected gums and sensitivity to hot and cold. It seems like he had every issue I could think of. Both he and I wanted to save his teeth, so we developed a long-range plan to do just that.”

For patients like Brian, who are apprehensive, Dr. Fatmi and his staff work hard to ensure that every experience in the office is pleasant and relaxing. They work closely with patients to ease his or her fears and erase the anxious feelings they may have.

“We treat people with dignity and compassion from beginning to end,” Dr. Fatmi assures. “We want everyone to feel comfortable and at ease throughout their experience.”

“We see a lot of people who have dental anxiety,” he explains. “Brian had a very bad childhood dental experience that progressed into his early adulthood. As a result, he let his teeth go. We work hard to eradicate those fears and build a relationship with every patient.”

“In Brian’s case, a procedure that may have taken an hour to do instead took an hour and a half to complete because I did not want to rush him. I wanted to take my time and allow him to be comfortable with the process.”

Brian says his fear of dentists is now behind him.

“Dr. Fatmi can make anyone feel comfortable,” Brian assures. “I am the biggest scaredy-cat there is, and he eased all of my fears.”

Dr. Fatmi says an important part of the reassuring process is to be forthcoming with patients about the procedures and processes involved in their care.

“We are very open with patients and explain what their options are and how we can proceed to help them achieve a healthier smile. Our ultimate goal is to work closely with the patient to achieve good oral health.”
