Creating New Smiles and Endless Confidence
David Underwood stopped going to dentists because he could never find one he felt had his best interests at heart. David Underwood found a reliable and honest dentist in Naved Fatmi, DMD, at Regency Court Dentistry.
“There’s a history of bad oral health in my family,” David explains. “My father’s teeth were horrible, and my mom lost four of her front teeth at a young age. Knowing this, I tried my best at home to take care of my teeth, but I needed a lot of work done. I had decay and other things going on.
“I was tired of the judgmental attitudes and stares I was constantly getting. Every time I would go see a dentist, instead of giving me a plan and a goal to work toward, they would judge me and make assumptions as to why my teeth were in the shape they were in at my age. I just got fed up.”
After seeing at least four different dentists, the 27-year-old was left feeling discouraged that he would ever find one who could solve his issues. That changed when he met Naved Fatmi, DMD, at Regency Court Dentistry.
“The most important thing I want people to understand is that it doesn’t matter how old a person is, and it doesn’t matter what the problem is or where the problem came from,” says Dr. Fatmi. “Regency Court Dentistry gives people the solutions they seek so they can bite and chew properly, and they can smile, which restores one’s confidence.”
Creating new smiles
“The first thing David mentioned to me is that he didn’t like the overall look of his smile,” Dr. Fatmi explains. “After we took x-rays and came up with a treatment plan, I got started right away. The first thing I needed to do was to get his gums healthy, and to do that, I did a scaling gum treatment. After his gums had ample time to heal from that procedure, we got started repairing his six front teeth on the top. The reason he wanted to start there was so he could feel more confident in job interviews and when talking to people.
“To achieve our goal of creating a new smile for David, I wanted to be able to save all of his teeth and, luckily, I was able to do so. He had several root canals done, and we placed porcelain crowns along the top. The end result is a natural look that matches his facial structure and skin tone. And it has given him a renewed sense of confidence about himself. He is far too young to lose his teeth or to even think that was his only option.”
